Summertime is Hatchling Time!

Hatchling on SPI
The 2013 sea turtle nesting season officially began in South Padre Island when Steve Fowler found the first flippered mama making a nest on the shores of the Gulf Coast in April.

And, after the incubation period passed, Nature took its course beginning in June as hundreds of hatchlings make their way to the sea, one by one, cheered on by crowds who gather at sunrise to witness the event. Each little creature represents not only hope for their species but also hope for the planet which we all call home.
